Finance Manager — Construction Sector — Tonbridge
Salary: £70,000 per annum

Hill McGlynn are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established regional main contractor to recruit a talented and experienced Finance Manager to join their leadership team in Tonbridge. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing and reputable construction business with a turnover exceeding £40 million, delivering a range of projects across the South East.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you will take full ownership of the financial management and reporting for the business, working closely with the Board of Directors to drive performance, manage risk, and support strategic decision-making. This is a key leadership role with a broad remit and a strong focus on commercial awareness and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and statutory reporting
  • Lead month-end and year-end processes in line with audit and compliance requirements
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board
  • Manage and develop a small finance team
  • Work closely with project and commercial teams to ensure financial controls are in place across all projects
  • Identify opportunities for improved financial systems, processes, and controls
  • Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and financial institutions
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager (or similar) in the construction industry
  • Experience working with a contractor or developer with annual turnover of £40 million or more
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong understanding of project accounting and construction-specific finance practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Based within commutable distance to Tonbridge
