Salary: £30,987 – £32,346 (Scale 4, SP 7–10). Hours: 0.5 FTE at Elm Wood Primary School and 0.5 FTE at Kingswood Primary School. Year Round: Yes. Permanent: Yes. To Start: ASAP.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join the dynamic teams at Elm Wood and Kingswood Primary Schools. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations across two thriving, inclusive, and ambitious schools.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Assistant to join our schools and play a key role in driving the continued success of our school.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support the School Business Manager and Headteachers in delivering accurate and efficient financial services.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including purchase orders, invoices, reconciliations, and school funds.
  • Produce financial reports for a range of stakeholders and support budgetary control processes.
  • Champion efficiency, best value, and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Develop effective relationships with staff, governors, the local authority, and external partners.
About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Strong experience using financial software (ideally Xero, Parent Pay, Approval Max).
  • Excellent IT and Excel skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to interpret financial data, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A finance qualification (CIPFA/AAT) or working towards one.
  • Previous experience in school finance is desirable.
