Job Description

Since 2012, Plastic Oceans International has worked to end plastic pollution by pairing community-led action with science, education, and storytelling. Today, reactive cleanups aren’t enough. We facilitate proactive, systems-level change by using film to convene dialogue, align cross-sector stakeholders, and catalyze collaborative action at the local level, on a global scale.

To scale that impact, we’re expanding SEE Positive Change (SPC), our growing film library and participatory distribution service, and we’re seeking a Film & Digital Content Manager to drive content creation, film acquisition, and platform management that bring these stories to the communities that need them most.

We’re looking for a proactive creative and organizer who loves film, cares deeply about climate and ocean health, and can move projects from idea to delivery. You’ll own SPC’s content pipeline, producing and editing video assets, sourcing films and rights, managing our OTT presence, and supporting programmatic communications. You’ll report to the Communications Director and collaborate with grassroots partners, filmmakers, and the broader POI team.

Responsibilities

Content Creation and Editing

  • Own and execute the content calendar (shorts, trailers, reels, social cuts, webinar clips).

  • Produce, record, and edit interviews/virtual dialogues (schedule and prep with filmmakers/partners).

Film Acquisition and Distribution

  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective films for SPC (festivals, NGOs, universities, creators).

  • Outreach to filmmakers/rights holders; coordinate submissions, assets, and agreements.

  • Pilot and document distribution pathways (community screenings, partner toolkits, educator packs, OTT playlists), testing what grows reach and engagement.

OTT Platform Management

  • Upload, tag, and maintain new content and metadata across platforms

  • Manage our OTT environment (titles, thumbnails, descriptions, collections, QA).

  • Ensure consistent taxonomy, accessibility basics (captions), and brand standards.

  • Track basic analytics and recommend monthly optimizations.

Support POI Comms

  • Provide ad-hoc editing and repackaging for POI channels (reels, teasers, event clips).

  • Coordinate with the comms team to align SPC content with priority campaigns and partner activations.

Role Requirements

  • Editing proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or comparable tools.

  • Live/virtual production experience (webinars, online interviews, remote recording). Familiarity with Riverside.fm is an asset.

  • Workflow savvy, including use of AI-assisted editing to speed routine tasks.

  • Accountable and proactive: you spot timely stories, pitch ideas, and execute with minimal hand-holding.

  • Interest in film distribution/OTT and impact storytelling. Familiarity with Vimeo OTT and/or UScreen is an asset.
