Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Early Intervention Prevention and Promotion Service within the CAMH Service joining the established Local Integrated Family Team (LIFT), a multi-disciplinary, integrated partnership, successfully bringing together Conwy and Denbighshire County Councils and the Central Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) services. LIFT works with children of all ages, families and wider systems to understand behaviours that challenge within the home. Whilst employed through Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), you will be embedded within the LIFT team contributing to the values of the service, which puts families at the heart. Using a compassionate bio-psycho-social understanding of challenging behaviour, LIFT works with the 'missing middle', providing assessment and intervention where universal interventions have been exceeded, and where difficulties do not meet thresholds for statutory services.

Main duties of the job

The team are looking for an enthusiastic Family and Systemic Psychotherapist to work alongside the LIFT Team Manager and other specialists to support the service to meet the team's aims and uphold its values and purpose. The successful candidate will coordinate and provide a Family Therapy service within LIFT team, as part of the wider Central Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Early Intervention, Prevention and Promotion (EIPP) service, covering the areas of Conwy and Denbighshire. Newly qualified psychotherapists, and those due to qualify as Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, would be welcome to apply, with opportunities for further professional development supported.

An understanding of child development and systemic factors which contribute to healthy child- parent relationships are desirable, along with any experience of using evidence based and practice-based evidence, to deliver interventions within services would be valued.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and /or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
  • Post grad Family Therapy or equiv qualifiction at Masters or higher award
  • UKCP Registration as a Family/Systemic Psychotherapist
  • Knowledge of research design and methodology as practised within the field of family therapy
  • Knowledge of legislation for both clinical practice and professional management in relation children and families
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Additional relevant academic and/or accredited therapeutic qualification
Experience
  • Experience of implementing evidence based family interventions
  • Experience of taking full clinical responsibility for clients' care with experience of co-ordinating
  • Experience of working as a registered family/systemic psychotherapist
  • Experience of working directly with children and young people
  • Direct experience of Care Coordination under the MHM 2010
  • Experience of Teaching, training and/or supervision
Aptitue and Abilities
  • Highly developed skills in systemic practice
  • Ability to develop, manage and co-ordinate Family Therapy/interviewing
  • Ability to develop, manage and coordinate training packages (staff and clients)
  • Ability to work within an evidence based framework
  • Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and ability to 'hold' the stress of others
  • Ability to work with distressing clinical material and help others manage this
  • Ability to work in contexts of high complexity and ongoing change
  • Ability to speak Welsh
  • Ability to develop manage co-ordinate and provide consultation to other professionals
