The Ministry of Defence and the single services (Royal Navy, RAF and British Army) are subject to intense public, Parliamentary and media scrutiny. The Directorate of Defence Communications (DDC) communicates departmental and military activities externally to the media, stakeholders, and the public, and internally to our people. The Executive Assistant (EA) role supports the Director of Defence Communications, providing a full range of support including diary management and organising travel arrangements. This role sits within the Director's Private Office and reports to the newly created DDC Operations Manager role. This post offers a diverse and challenging role with a degree of autonomy. The postholder will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the Director's day-to-day activities. They will often be the first point of contact for the Director and for DDC, and will need to be confident, knowledgeable, with the ability to grasp emerging issues, work at pace and balance competing priorities. The post holder will also be expected to perform other tasks commensurate with the grade and functional capability of the post. The position is advertised at 37 hours per week, and the post holder will provide secretarial support to the Director of Communications.
