EU Road Freight Operations Co-ordinator

Location: Hertfordshire

Salary Package: £35,000 – £40,000 (DOE) + Contributory Pension

About the Role:

A superb opportunity to join a profitable, long-established European logistics business that continues to grow and invest in its people. This is a fast-paced, commercially focused role where you will play a key part in delivering high service levels across EU road freight operations and trailer movements, while building strong customer and supplier relationships.

This position offers genuine variety and responsibility, covering European road freight (groupage and full trailer loads), route planning, transport compliance, rate negotiation, and customs documentation for EU movements.

Key Requirements include:

  • Co-ordinating EU and UK road freight movements for groupage and full trailer loads (FTL)
  • Planning and communicating routes to drivers, minimising off-route mileage to maximise efficiency
  • Monitoring driver duty and driving time to ensure compliance is followed correctly
  • Processing customer orders accurately using an in-house operating system, with excellent attention to detail
  • Compiling customs documentation to support shipments into Europe (import / export)
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering consistently high standards of customer service
  • Quoting and negotiating transport rates with customers and suppliers to secure orders and improve profit
  • Liaising with internal departments and suppliers to ensure procedures are followed correctly
  • Allocating resources (trucks, drivers, trailers) to meet client demand and operational deadlines

The successful candidate will have a professional, positive approach, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a commercial mindset with confidence negotiating with clients and suppliers. Experience within EU road freight, transport operations, trailer planning, logistics, or freight forwarding is highly beneficial.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:30, with 1 Saturday morning every 4 weeks (08:30 – 11:00). A shift system is in place with 1 day per week finishing at 16:30.

Holidays: 22 days holiday per year, plus 8 Bank / Public Holidays.
