Are you passionate about empowering students through the beauty and power of the English language?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full-Time English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This exciting opportunity is set to begin in September 2025 or after October 2025 half term, with flexibility depending on the availability of the successful candidate.

The school is happy to consider Early Careers Teachers alongside more experienced teachers. Interviews are to take place the first week back in September 2025.

Responsibilities of English Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking English lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Plan and implement a rich curriculum that caters to a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and support.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages creativity and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall teaching and learning experience.
  • Participate in school events, parent evenings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and contribute to students’ holistic growth.
  • Ensure full compliance with safeguarding and school policies.

Requirements for English Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English literature and language.
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (Early Careers Teachers are warmly encouraged to apply).
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to inspiring and supporting students of all abilities.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
  • Full-time, secure role with the potential for a permanent or fixed-term contract.
