English Academic Coach

Do you have an English degree and want to gain classroom experience before starting teacher training? Are you ready to support secondary students with tailored English interventions across KS3 and KS4?

Role Details

English Academic Coach – Immediate start until July 2026

Location: Ward of Northfield

Salary: £80 - £100 per day

School: A ‘Good’-rated secondary school

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the English department to deliver targeted academic support to students across KS3 and KS4.
  • Run small group sessions and provide one-to-one interventions.
  • Assist in preparing pupils for assessments and exams.
  • Contribute to lesson preparation and help pupils develop confidence in reading, writing, and critical analysis.
The Candidate

You should hold a degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject. A clear communicator with a supportive and proactive attitude, you’ll need to be confident working with young people. Any previous experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring will be helpful but not essential.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – A strong interest in supporting students and pursuing a teaching career.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
