Engineering Test Technician

Location: Clacton on Sea, Essex

Salary: £25,000 to £28,000

Role Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Test Technician to join an established engineering team focusing on the testing, verification and support of both new and legacy electronic products. Reporting to the Engineering Test Manager, this position plays a vital role in ensuring products are tested to the highest standard, supporting wider engineering activities, and maintaining equipment calibration to UKAS requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out detailed technical testing and investigations on a range of new and legacy electronic products.
  • Use a variety of test equipment including network analysers, oscilloscopes, power supplies (including high voltage), DMMs and related tools.
  • Write C++ code within Visual Studio to support test automation.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive test reports and organise results for future reference.
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve technical issues identified during testing.
  • Carry out soldering of cables, connectors and components for test setups, including fault finding and replacement of parts where required.
  • Manage the calibration of all departmental equipment to UKAS standards, including coordination with external calibration providers, courier arrangements and maintaining calibration records.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • BTEC Level 3, A Levels or equivalent in an engineering discipline, ideally with a strong electronic focus.
  • Previous experience in an engineering or test environment.
  • Ability to fault find down to component level.
  • Skilled in the use of a wide range of electronic test equipment such as DMMs, network analysers, oscilloscopes and ATE systems.
  • Understanding of core electronic principles.
