Employee Relations Consultant — Permanent; Grade 5 - £42,839 - £51,356; Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review; Working 36.5 hours per week.

About You

As an Employee Relations Consultant at Birmingham City Council, you’ll play a vital role in delivering expert HR advice across a wide range of ER matters—from conduct and capability to TUPE and litigation. This is a dynamic opportunity where your expertise will directly support both strategic projects and day-to-day casework, ensuring fair and effective outcomes that enhance employee experience and organisational performance.

You’ll be the go-to advisor for managers across the council, building strong partnerships and coaching them to confidently manage employee relations in a unionised environment. With a clear focus on solutions, policy improvement, and empowering others, you’ll also contribute to training delivery and legal case preparation. If you're CIPD Level 5 qualified (or bring equivalent experience), and thrive in a fast-paced, people-first setting, this is your chance to shape positive change at scale.
