Job description
Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in our Clean Water Division, based at our Ashford Common Water Treatment Site.

As a successful candidate, you will use your electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision, ensuring our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fixing them or escalating as required; planned maintenance of plant and equipment daily; installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
  • Recording work and asset information to improve business performance and identifying possible future risks, raising these for resolution as required.
  • Providing specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge, and coaching, training and developing staff under supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Delivering excellent customer experience and contributing to overall customer satisfaction, interacting with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.
Base Location and Hours

Base Location: Ashford Common – TW15 1RU

Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000–£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

What you should bring to the role
  • You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or hold NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • 18th Edition preferred, but training can be provided.
  • A problem solver who can identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
  • An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient and able to adapt to the pressures of work and a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and on own initiative to design to required standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work across different teams, showing respect for others and supporting the development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
