Overview

Electrical Inspector – Commercial Test & Inspection (2391) – Location: Portsmouth/Southampton (regional coverage). Salary: c. £50,000 OTE (base £38,000 plus bonuses) and solid benefits. Hours: Normal daytime hours with occasional unsocial hours to meet customer needs. PT…G ES specialises in fixed wire test & inspection (EICRs) of commercial and industrial premises, including schools, hospitals, office blocks, retail units, and more. We are looking to increase Test & Inspection (2391) engineers to support growth and tendering for more work.

What you’ll actually be doing (Responsibilities):

• Running full-scale inspections and tests on commercial and industrial fixed wiring and switchgear, and compiling EICRs that matter.
• Spotting issues, logging them, and clearly documenting what needs fixing in plain, non-bureaucratic language.
• Using testing gear and reporting software with precision and efficiency.
• Working independently, adapting daily, and staying calm when sites present challenges.
• Staying on top of EICR standards (BS 7671, IET wiring regs, City & Guilds credentials) to keep everything above board.

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum of around three years of similar experience in Test & Inspect, remedial repairs, or compliance-heavy work.
• City & Guilds 2391-52 (or equivalent), NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition certificate.
• A full UK driving licence (van provided as mobile HQ).
• Detail-focused, self-starting, and professional—always thinking about potential issues tomorrow.
