A leading offshore engineering business in Newcastle Upon Tyne seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer. You will be responsible for designing control systems and developing PLC, HMI/SCADA systems. The ideal candidate has a degree-level qualification and experience with safety automation systems. This role offers a competitive salary of £40,000–£60,000 plus benefits.

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading offshore engineering business delivering offshore equipment to oil&gas, energy/wind industries. They are now looking to bring an experenced Electrical Design Engineer to work on their exciting and varied projects.

Electrical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Specifies and designs control system circuits and documentation.
  • Develops and simulates PLC, HMI/SCADA systems and software.
  • Configures and commissions inverter drives.
  • Checks and approves electrical schematics.
  • Checks calculations and architecture.
  • Conducts functional safety studies.
  • Reviews designs against DNV and/or other standards.
  • Selects and procures control system components.
  • Contributes to sales proposals.
  • Liaises with suppliers for expediting purposes.

Electrical Design Engineer Key Requirements:

  • Degree–level qualification, or equivalent.
  • Experienced in designing and commissioning safety automation and control systems for marine and/or hazardous environments.
  • Understands PLC programming for safety and process applications.
  • On–site commissioning and fault–finding experience.
  • Siemens TIA Portal experience.
  • Experience with DNV certification (optional)
  • Experience with SIL (optional)
