Job summary

Role: A psychologist or CBT therapist is sought to join the Havering Early Intervention Psychosis Team for 6 months, fixed-term.

The post holder will join an established early intervention in psychosis service for people with a psychotic diagnosis and their families, delivering CBT for psychosis to people aged 14-65 experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The role is suited to an enthusiastic psychologist or CBT therapist seeking to develop skills in evidence-based psychological therapies within a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties
  • Provide assessment and evidence-based interventions for the client group.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer support on psychological approaches to working with psychosis.
  • Participate in supervision and CPD focused on evidence-based interventions in psychosis.
  • Receive individual and group supervision in CBT for psychosis. The service has practitioners interested in Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR and Family Intervention for Psychosis among other approaches.

The Trust collaborates with UCL, UEL and Royal Holloway clinical psychology courses, several Counselling Psychology courses and the UCL CBTp diploma. Current department members are engaged in teaching and research projects with local clinical training courses.

Probationary Period: This post is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (subject to conditions).

Starting with NELFT: New starters join on the first Monday of each month with a two-week induction including mandatory and systems training, equipment allocation and introductory sessions, held at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement: 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,313; maximum £5,436 per annum pro rata).
