Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Years Practitioner to join our childcare team in our small, family run nursery. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and have knowledge of the early years curriculum and framework. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and well‑being of children in a nurturing environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating engaging activities, ensuring a safe space for learning, and fostering positive relationships with children and their families.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver age‑appropriate educational activities that promote early childhood development
  • Supervise and support children during play, learning, and mealtime routines
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment in accordance with childcare regulations
  • Monitor children's progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Lead by example in demonstrating excellent childcare practices and behaviour management
  • Manage daily administrative tasks related to child records and activity planning
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop activities that enhance children's learning experiences
  • Support the professional development of team members through mentorship and leadership
Requirements
  • Proven experience working with children in a nursery or other early years setting
  • Strong leadership capabilities within a childcare environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards, and safeguarding procedures
  • Childcare qualifications such as SVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent are essential
  • Ability to engage effectively with young children, fostering their curiosity and confidence

Job Type: Full‑time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour
