Overview

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dyslexia Tutor to provide tailored 1:1 support for a Year 2 student in the CB23 area. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about helping children with specific learning difficulties develop their confidence and achieve their potential. You will work closely with the student to deliver engaging, structured lessons that support literacy development, reading comprehension, and phonics skills, while fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver personalised learning sessions focused on reading, writing, phonics, and spelling.
  • Assess the student’s strengths, challenges, and progress to adapt teaching strategies as needed.
  • Provide constructive feedback and strategies to support independent learning and confidence-building.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to discuss progress and suggest additional strategies for home learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of lessons, progress, and attendance.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with dyslexia or other specific learning difficulties.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of phonics-based and multi-sensory teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach to learning.
  • Must hold an up-to-date Enhanced Child DBS or be willing to obtain one.
