Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and resourcefulDrug and Alcohol Support Workerto join our team. This role is based within a dynamic and challenging prison environment, working as part of Spectrum’s prison‑based Drug & Alcohol recovery‑focused treatment model. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality support across the key elements of the service, including assessment, case management, psychosocial interventions, release planning, and through‑care. This is a great opportunity to be part of a forward‑thinking, flexible, and supportive team committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those we work with.

This Support Worker role offers the opportunity to work closely with, and provide essential support to, a team of Recovery Coordinators within a busy and dynamic prison‑based Drug & Alcohol Service. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of services that help individuals achieve their recovery goals, improve outcomes, and support successful reintegration into the community. Under the guidance of the Drug & Alcohol Service Manager (Recovery), Senior Practitioners, and other managers, the Support Worker will work effectively and flexibly as part of the wider team to maintain high standards of service delivery.

The role involves both direct work with service users and administrative/office‑based tasks to support the smooth operation of the service. This includes assisting with HR processes, maintaining records, coordinating appointments, and other office duties as required. The Support Worker will also work collaboratively with partner agencies to provide meaningful interventions that motivate and support service users throughout their individual recovery journeys.

This position requires a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, and recovery‑oriented approach, recognising service users as active participants in their own health, wellbeing, and recovery, while also supporting the administrative and organisational functions that underpin effective service delivery.
