Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role/environment.
  • Working knowledge of UK Codes of Practices and Design Standards.
  • Understanding of highway and drainage design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare preliminary surface and foul water drainage designs.
  • Strategic drainage designs for large and medium scale projects.
  • Lead infrastructure design projects.
  • Assist with site inspections and analyze data.

Skills

Knowledge of AutoCAD
Knowledge of Microdrainage / FLOW
Understanding of Flood risk/drainage legislation

Are you a Civil Engineer who specialises in drainage design? We have an opening for a Drainage Design Engineer to join a well reputed and established team in Norwich. Our client is a group of specialists within Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Pre-planning, Building Surveying, Insurance Surveying, Project Management & Expert Witness.

You can expect to assist in the delivery of a range of projects assisting Associates and Directors of the team in the design of drainage, preparation of flood risk assessments and drainage infrastructure, surrounded by a support team.

The role
  • Preparation of preliminary surface and foul water drainage designs
  • Strategic drainage designs for large and medium scale projects
  • Keep up to date with the latest software packages
  • Keep up to date with industry guideline changes
  • Opportunities to lead infrastructure design projects
  • Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments
  • Preparation of SuDS scheme and solutions
  • Preparation of Sustainable Drainage concepts and designs for projects
  • Assist with site inspections/reviews and analyse data (maps, reports, geotechnical, data, drawings and alike)
  • Liaise with other disciplines within the project team to coordinate designs
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals
What you need to succeed
  • Working towards or hold a civil engineering degree / HNC or HND equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience within a similar role / environment
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microdrainage / FLOW or similar
  • Flood risk/drainage legislation, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety best practices;
  • An understanding of project management and experience is preferred but not essential
  • Working knowledge of UK Codes of Practices and Design Standards for highways and drainage
  • A knowledge of highway and drainage design
  • A preference of knowledge of the planning process for different types of development
