Job summary

A community care organization in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Domiciliary Care Assistant to support clients in an Extra Care Housing environment. You will assist with their daily routines, personal care, and provide companionship in a warm, supportive setting. Location: Oxlip House, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7RH – Pay: £12.88 per hour (£13.88 on weekends) – Shift times: 7am–2pm / 2pm–10pm, Monday–Friday, alternate weekends – Contract: 15 hrs/week, fixed term

About the role

Our Extra Care Housing schemes, also known as assisted living, consist of self‑contained one‑ or two‑bedroom apartments carefully designed to help clients live as independently as possible. With its own front door, clients can come and go as they please, socialize with neighbours in the communal areas or enjoy their own company in privacy. Within each scheme our care teams are on hand around the clock to support clients with daily tasks and activities—this is domiciliary care. Our Domiciliary Care Assistants make a real difference every day, whether it’s supporting clients with their routines, personal care, companionship, or light household duties. No two days are the same, but you won’t need to travel between locations as all clients live in the same building. You will become part of an extended family, working alongside colleagues passionate about providing warmth, kindness, and excellent care.

About you

If you’ve worked in domiciliary care before, that experience is valuable, but if this is a new profession we’ll provide all the training you need. It would be ideal if you hold or are working towards a Health and Social Care qualification. More important is that you are good at communicating with people, have a compassionate can‑do approach, enjoy teamwork, are keen to learn, and want to deliver the highest quality of care every day.
