Job description

The selected individual is responsible for planning and directing all related activities of Equity Capital Markets, while ensuring objectives are met and maximising profitability.

Equity Capital Markets
  • Leads and manages all operations of the Equity Capital Markets product and while ensuring maximization of long‑term income generation for the product, and franchise building of the product with clients, regulators and other external / internal stakeholders
  • Develops appropriate strategy for the product and day to day management procedures
  • Provides leadership to the team in structuring and other aspects of ECM transactions, including structuring, documentation, coordination, and regulatory filings
  • Directs and checks all ECM transactions, offerings, processes and policies and ensures alignment with compliance, risk, and regulatory (CMA) compliance
  • Directs market monitoring activities and seeks reporting of market information on a periodic basis
  • Understands and assesses the existing market environment, monitors changes in external policy guidelines and evaluates their implications on potential investment or transaction decisions
  • Reviews and approves exceptions as required and escalates any major risks or issues to Co‑Head of Investment Banking
Business Development
  • Promotes Equity Capital Markets product to clients through participating in client pitches, road shows, request for proposals, marketing activities in order to achieve growth in the business
  • Assesses target investors or clients, evaluates market risks, product risk, investment risks etc. to establish sound investment practices
  • Directs and ensures that the ECM product and service offering is tailored as per client feedback and requirements, market feedback and audit requirements
  • Identifies and ensures cross‑selling opportunities through cross referral to key product partners
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Manages key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with:
  • Internal: Products and services Business teams, Finance Function, Internal Audit Function, Risk and Compliance, Marketing, and relevant Boards
  • External: Investors, clients, industry bodies, regulators, governments and their agencies, affiliated entities
  • Works closely with the Product and Sector heads to ensure cross‑selling opportunities and efficient operations, high service quality and client satisfaction
  • Creates effective communication channels with decision makers within corporates, Government entities and high net worth individuals
  • Promotes and coordinates collaboration across geographies and teams to support on delivering the strategy
Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Leads the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver agreed plans and targets, collaborating with colleagues to maximise end‑to‑end integration, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Establishes and maintains a robust and efficient control environment within the Equity Capital Markets business to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of a regional Equity Capital Markets management information, analysis and reporting framework that pertains to the Equity Capital Markets product to support and inform timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
  • Leads the implementation and oversight of the Equity Capital Markets policy and governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or equivalent is required
  • Master’s degree in Finance / Business Management preferred
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is preferred
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role
  • Experience managing a unit in the banking sector within the region with a strong focus in investment banking is preferred
