Design Lead

Design Lead – Sports Surfaces - West Yorkshire -£60,000 +Benefits

The Job
  • Leading the design and delivery of sports surface and field-of-play infrastructure projects from concept through construction
  • Managing multidisciplinary design teams across all project stages (RIBA 0–7)
  • Coordinating technical outputs across multiple disciplines including drainage, irrigation, turf systems and lighting
  • Developing, reviewing and approving design documentation, drawings and specifications
  • Supporting project managers with scope definition, programmes and resource planning
  • Providing technical input during tendering and construction phases
  • Acting as the primary design interface with clients, consultants and contractors
  • Championing sustainable, innovative and performance-led design solutions
  • Ensuring compliance with international sporting federation standards
  • Managing design risk, QA / QC processes and continuous improvement initiatives

The Candidate
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Sports Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional accreditation (Chartered Engineer, Architect or equivalent) desirable
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering sports facilities, stadiums or complex landscape / infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
  • Strong BIM and federated design workflow experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and related design software
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills
  • Client-focused with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest in sport, sustainability and design innovation
