Overview

Are you a Deputy Sister or Charge Nurse wanting a new challenge or an experienced Staff Nurse wanting to enhance your career? Deene Acute Surgical Unit will be the place for you. DASU is an acute Surgical Emergency Admissions and Short Stay Ward specialising in General Surgery, Urology and ENT emergencies, we also work closely with our Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit.

You will be required to have a high level of knowledge regarding the trust wide pressures around capacity and Clinical Governance.

You will need to have expertise and a sound knowledge base in the day to day care and management of all patients coming through the ward. Working within this very busy environment will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your clinical, managerial and leadership skills. As an effective leader and role model you will work as a member of the ward team, and in support of the Ward Sister to ensure high standards of care are delivered, maintained, evaluated and improved upon if needed.

You will play an active part in ward improvement and your ideas will contribute towards enhancing the patient\'s stay and maintaining team morale, whilst supporting the overall vision for the organization. NB: The post includes internal rotation. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required work very closely with the Ward Sister to support the ward team delivering a high standard of care to our patients.

You will be the nurse in change and be required to have a clinical overview of the ward, you will be the support for the ward team and be expected to challenge when necessary.

There will be a requirement to fulfill some of the day to day management tasks as part of your role.

  • Maintain high standards of care; work as a member of the ward team in support of the Ward Sister to ensure high standards of care are delivered, maintained, evaluated and improved upon as needed.
  • Demonstrate clinical, managerial and leadership skills in a busy environment; participate in ward improvement and contribute ideas to enhance the patient\'s stay and maintain team morale.
  • Act as nurse in charge, with clinical overview of the ward; support the ward team and challenge where necessary.
  • Fulfill day-to-day management tasks as part of the role.
  • Work closely with the Ward Sister, support the ward team, and deliver a high standard of care to patients.
  • Be involved with internal rotation and contribute to capacity and clinical governance awareness.
