Reeson Education are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Deputy SENCO to join a thriving secondary school in London. This is a non-teaching leadership role, working closely with the school SENCO and leading the team of HLTAs and Teaching Assistants to deliver outstanding support for students with additional needs.

The Role

The Deputy SENCO will:

  • Support students with a range of SEND needs both in and out of the classroom.
  • Teach or mentor small groups of students where necessary to ensure access to the curriculum.
  • Line manage and timetable HLTAs and TAs, ensuring effective deployment across the school.
  • Coordinate assessments and provision for students with EHCPs, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Lead on annual reviews, SEND student profiles, and targeted monitoring.
  • Provide in-class and pastoral support for students whose needs or behaviours present barriers to achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and contribute to whole-school SEND strategies and policies.
  • Take responsibility for evidence gathering and assessments for exam access arrangements.
  • Liaise with parents, external agencies, and colleagues to secure the best outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities
  • Line management of the HLTA and TA team.
  • Leadership of SEND support clubs, intervention programmes, and monitoring systems.
  • Contributing to the strategic vision for SEND within the school, in partnership with the SENCO and senior leadership.
  • Building student confidence, independence, and inclusion across all aspects of school life.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory guidelines.
