The Data Enablement team at News UK is looking for a curious, motivated, and collaborative individual to join us as a Data Enablement Apprentice! Your Role

While studying for your Level 4 Business Analyst apprentice qualification, you’ll join the Data Enablement team, helping to make data for insights and AI easier to find, more accurate, and fully compliant. You’ll contribute to establishing ethical, compliant, and efficient data processing so everyone can make better decisions. We support key Data team projects, working in an agile manner with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Architects, and Technical Leads to build innovative solutions for capturing and sharing essential data. We also help colleagues in the Analytics teams and data champions treat data as the valuable asset it is by providing clear guidelines, automated processes, and practical tools.

Day to day you will
  • Learn the core principles of compliant, accurate data management and, with the support of a team, help identify and implement the necessary measures to ensure data delivered and hosted on our platform remains compliant and accurate.
  • Learn the importance of describing our data to enable AI capabilities. You'll contribute to defining the processes, tools, and people involved, streamlining their work with automation and AI.
  • Work alongside team members to partner with the business and technology teams in delivering our data governance initiatives, championing compliance and accuracy in their data use.
  • Assist in developing guidelines, standards and policies to manage our data, and develop the processes and tools that will support their adoption, with a focus on core areas including: metadata management, AI enablement, data quality and security, and data access.
  • Collect, analyze, and structure data requirements. Synthesize this information to create formal specifications to be used to implement solutions and/or to automate data management processes.
  • Use available AI tools to streamline and automate activities of our data governance function, such as advice and recommendations of the use of standards and guidelines, supporting documentation, reporting and audit.
What we’re looking for from you
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4 (equivalent to a C) or above
  • A keen interest in the media industry.
  • The energy & enthusiasm needed to quickly learn about News UK as a business, our products and our culture.
  • An eye for accuracy, with a curious mindset connecting the dots between various pieces of information.
  • Natural curiosity about data and AI, and their potential to drive business value.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, specially data governance tools such as data catalog, data lineage, data quality monitoring.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of using Excel/Google Sheets, Word/Google Docs and Powerpoint/Google Slides.
