Job description

I am hiring a Cyber Security Engineer on behalf of a software engineering firm that builds large-scale, mission-critical platforms for clients across industries such as retail, automotive, and healthcare. Their teams handle full-stack development, from design to deployment, emphasizing data-driven engineering and complex problem solving. In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure infrastructure, ensuring systems, processes, and policies meet high technical and security standards.
  • Automate security and compliance tasks through code (e.g., scripts, tooling) to enhance reliability and reduce manual effort.
  • Manage and continuously improve the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and ensure GDPR compliance in collaboration with the Data Protection Officer.
  • Support engineering teams in building secure architectures and deliver security awareness training across the company.
  • Monitor and respond to emerging security risks, drive incident prevention, and maintain strong documentation and security best practices.
  • Perform administration tasks on company laptops and other hardware.

This position is on-site in Hamburg.

Essential:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux administration, networking, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong programming skills with Python and ideally Go, and a proven ability to automate infrastructure or security processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for doing things right and continuously improving security standards.
  • You need to be resilient, trustworthy, reliable and diligent with good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with ISMS e.g. ISO 27001, TISAX etc.
  • C2 level German and fluent English.
Desirable:
  • Experience working with network and firewalls.
  • Experience developing an ISMS.
