Overview

Orchard Hill College is an Outstanding Specialist College (Ofsted, November 2019) offering life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities. We have eight vibrant community-based College Centres across London and Surrey delivering programmes to meet the needs of over 400 students. Orchard Hill College is part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust, an established family of specialist academies and college centres that provide for over 1500 pupils and students with a wide range of learning abilities and additional needs.

We are seeking a Creative Arts Therapist (Music, Drama, Art Therapy) to work for 3 days per week at Orchard Hill College. Students follow a personalised programme, supported by specialist personal tutors, therapists, and nurses, including work and community-based learning opportunities that reflect student aspirations.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with other Arts therapists and with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) and teaching staff to provide a holistic therapeutic approach.
  • Contribute to an integrated, multi-disciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, Multi-therapy and Health Care Assistants.
  • Conduct clinical assessment of new students and manage a caseload of ongoing 1:1 and group work.
  • Work autonomously in the role; clinical supervision is partly or wholly funded by the College.
Qualifications and Experience
  • MA or equivalent qualification in Creative Art Therapy with UK HCPC Registration, and a degree in a relevant field.
  • Ideally 2 years' post-qualification experience, including work with students who have severe/profound and multiple learning disabilities, ASD, and behaviours of concern.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team; experience with clinical assessment and caseload management.
