Qualifications

  • Minimum of years maintenance experience with various equipment including Instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Permits and continuous emission monitoring equipment.
  • Exposure to process plant and equipment gained in Power Generation, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas industries.

Responsibilities

  • Fault finding, installing, maintaining and testing control equipment.
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using CMMS.

Skills

Maintenance experience with DCS & PLC systems
Knowledge of CEMS operation

Education

Job description
Overview

Astute People's Power Team are exclusively working with the South Clyde Energy Centre to recruit a full complement of Operations & Maintenance staff. The plant, currently under construction, is capable of processing up to 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing power for up to 70,000 homes. This new build Power Station is due to enter commercial operation by the end of 2026. Now is an ideal time to join the power station as you'll be involved in full plant commissioning, training & mobilisation.

Responsibilities
  • As the Control & Instrument Technician you will be responsible for:
  • Fault finding, installing, maintaining and testing all control equipment as directed by the C&I Engineer
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments
  • Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
  • Assist in the development of plant modification and improvement work
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Supervising and directing on site contractors when required
  • Assist in outage planning and coordination
  • Recommending plant spares to the C&I Engineer
  • Ensuring strict HSE compliance
Qualifications
  • Professional qualifications
  • A recognised qualification in electrical / electronic engineering at Level 3 (C&G, ONC, NVQ, SVQ) level or higher; other qualifications below this will be considered with extensive experience
  • Ideally qualified with an IOSH or equivalent with an appreciation of workplace Health & Safety including knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, LOTO, Isolations, SOP's, RAMS would also be considered.
  • Recognised Control & Instrumentation / Automation Apprenticeship
Personal skills
  • The Control & Instrument Technician would suit someone with:
  • At least years maintenance experience with a range of equipment including DCS & PLC systems, Instrumentation (maintenance and calibration) which includes; Flow, Level, Pressure etc
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring equipment) and Environmental Permits
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in an industry such as Power Generation, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas etc.
  • Experience in leading a team of technicians in daily maintenance practices and procedures
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential
