A leading supplier of doors in the UK is seeking an individual for a full-time role to manage projects in planning, production, and estimating. Responsibilities include learning the business, managing projects from start to finish, and liaising with customers and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables. Ideal candidates should possess good organizational and communication skills, as well as technical knowledge of ironmongery. Job description

MBP is the UK's leading independent stockist of doors from all major suppliers, and a market leading manufacturer of standard and bespoke fire doors, doorsets and glazed screens. MBP Ironmongery Solutions, part of MBP Group, are seeking an individual to gain a full working understanding of the business including all aspects of planning, production and estimating. Have a proactive approach to the role, with a view to execute and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and within budget, including the full scheduling of all customer requirements, and follow through with the processing of each contracts manufacturing documentation.

This position is suitable for experienced individuals wanting a new challenge, or those wanting to progress their career within the industry. Full and ongoing training will be provided throughout for the right applicant. Salary is dependant on experience.

This is a full time position for 40 hours a week Monday - Friday, but flexibility is required to meet customer demand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
  • Have an enthusiastic approach to learning all aspects of the business
  • Gain a full understanding of technical terminologies and fire ratings
  • Raise purchase orders to suppliers, monitor progress, book in goods received on Sage system
  • Request POD's from suppliers and invoice internal customers
  • Liaison with internal and external customers in order to arrange ironmongery deliveries to co-ordinate with doorset delivery programme.
  • Liaise with site to request information to process (e.g. Kickplates / Cylinder suiting details / door numbering).
  • With supervision, direct and manage projects from beginning to end
  • Define and record project requirements
  • Liaise with customer to ascertain full manufacturing requirements
  • Raise all manufacturing process documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers to gain optimum supplier agreements
  • Continued estimation through full contract cycle to completion
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Pro-actively manage changes in project scope
  • Liaise with production and planning to ensure product is manufactured to specification and on time
  • Comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities
  • …and any other duties required to support the achievement of the Company's objectives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and Sage desirable
  • Good organisational and communication skills, able to plan to meet deadlines
  • Technical knowledge of ironmongery desirable
  • Work on own initiative and part of a small team
  • Good problem-solving skills, able to address or upscale if necessary
  • Commercial and contractual awareness to ensure the business is profitable
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise tasks appropriately
