Job description
Overview

We are looking for a People Advisor to join our team for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the People Manager, you will provide operational HR and project support. The role has a strong generalist HR focus, but also provides the opportunity for someone to be actively involved in proactive talent management and development, organisation change, resource management, and HR improvement activities. The role will also include support a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that all contract objectives are achieved and maintained through the performance of people. The role is remote and with the requirement to travel to Stoke-on-Trent 2 days per week. There will also be the requirement to travel to other sites on occasion. Salary - up to £35,000 + Car

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for providing advice and generalist HR support across the contract.
  • Develop effective on-going relationships at all levels, responding to queries directly and influencing managers to follow a best practice approach.
  • Own the delivery of key people processes such as absence, maternity, paternity, flexible working, probation etc.
  • Support the management team in the performance management of individuals and other employee relations situations (e.g. performance improvement plans, capability problems, disciplinary scenarios, grievances).
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Proactively spot / implement opportunities to improve team ways of working and supporting customers; identify problems and find solutions.
  • Assist in training and developing managers in people related matters, ensuring processes are followed and legislation is met.
  • Providing HR support for ad-hoc operational business related projects e.g. new business wins, TUPE.
  • Support recruitment activity ensuring compliance to internal policies and selection of the most suitable candidates.
  • Support and improve absence management including the active management of welfare meetings and OH referrals.
  • Support cyclical activities i.e. salary review, bonus, performance, engagement, succession planning etc.
Qualifications
  • Proven HR experience within logistics or a similar industry.
  • Skilled in providing pragmatic, tailored HR advice.
  • Experience of supporting managers with employee relations issues.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualified or desire to work towards.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a prerequisite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about developing and supporting colleagues to fulfill their potential.
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build relationships quickly.
