Consultant Urological Surgeon With an Interest in Robotic Prostatectomy

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking consultant with expertise in the comprehensive management of prostate cancer, from diagnosis to robotic prostatectomy.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will have experience in minimally invasive robotic surgery and will further develop their expertise in robotic prostatectomy under the mentorship of colleagues within the department. They will be responsible for further developing and delivering the pathway for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, alongside the expanding workforce of prostate‑cancer specialist nurses and nurse consultants.

Effective communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary team are essential. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the national profile of the department through publications and presentations at international meetings.

Consultants currently participate in a Consultant of the Week rota on a 1:9 basis, fully supported by a 24‑hour middle‑grade tier and a Hospital at Night Team.
