Consultant Psychiatrist – Male PICU (Rehabilitation)

Location: West Midlands

Contract: Permanent | Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £175,000 per annum

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our client’s specialist team within the Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and progressive environment. The facility provides expert treatment for individuals with complex mental health and addiction needs, with care structured around NICE guidelines and tailored to each patient’s recovery journey.

Responsibilities
  • Taking overall clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and supporting a therapeutic milieu.
  • Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Overseeing referrals and admissions, including contributing to pre-admission assessments.
  • Providing expert psychiatric input across assessment, formulation, and treatment planning within the multidisciplinary team.

  • Full GMC registration with inclusion on the relevant Specialist Register.
  • Proven clinical expertise, with the ability to lead effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
