A leading healthcare provider in Canterbury is seeking a Consultant in Critical Care to join an expanding team. The role involves professional development, research, and teaching opportunities, especially in ultrasound and medical education. Embrace a rewarding career and make a significant difference in patient care and healthcare education.
Critical Care at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother hospital is expanding. The unit provides a total of nine Level 3 capable beds, including three isolation rooms, and is located at the front of the hospital, adjacent to the operating department and close to the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit and radiology.
A recent business case increased the consultant body from four to eight, enabling the separation of the consultant on-call rota from anaesthetics. A dedicated 1:8 Critical Care consultant rota is now in operation; however close links and cooperation remain with the anaesthetic consultant on-call for the site.
The unit has state-of-the-art equipment, including Hamilton G5 ventilators at all bed spaces with advanced modes such as Adaptive Support Ventilation (ASV) and APRV. There is a strong focus on Critical Care ultrasound, including echocardiography. There are two FICE supervisors in the East Kent Critical Care consultant body and numerous FICE mentors, including Drs Ana Alegria and Ken Adegoke at QEQM, with a Sonosite X-Porte multi-purpose ultrasound machine. Strong links and cooperation in Echocardiography training exist with the team at William Harvey, where a yearly FICE course is run.
We are delighted to welcome applications for a Consultant in Critical Care to join the expanding East Kent Critical Care team at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust. If you join our expanding department, you will discover a rewarding role with great scope for professional development, research and teaching, plus a fantastic lifestyle. Our Trust is investing heavily in our Critical Care Units over the next 12 months, and we would love you to be a part of this.
When you make the move to East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust, your only regret will be that you didn’t do it sooner. We are a community of great people providing great healthcare, improving health and lives. Here, you can be confident of making a difference to our patients, our healthcare teams and our medical students and doctors in training. The Kent & Medway Medical School has recently opened in Canterbury, and this is a game-changing opportunity. Successful applicants with an interest in medical education will be supported in taking up an honorary senior lecturer post at the medical school, subject to agreement by KMMS. Both London and the Continent are on your doorstep, with easy access to the capital and to the Channel Ports and Channel Tunnel. We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving around 800,000 people.
