A leading teaching healthcare Trust in the UK is seeking a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology to work closely with the Neurosurgical team. You will provide intraoperative monitoring to support neuro-oncology and other surgical subspecialties, ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery. The position demands effective leadership and collaboration within the Department of Neurosurgery, contributing to teaching and research efforts. This is a full-time position based at Denmark Hill, with flexible responsibilities across Trust sites.
This is a new full‑time Consultant post. The remit of the postholder will be to work closely with the Neurosurgical team at Kings to provide intraoperative monitoring (IOM) in support of the neurooncology and other surgical subspecialties. The neuro‑oncology unit is expanding to become the largest in the UK, and both the volume and complex nature of the cases seen require in‑house dedicated IOM support. The postholder will work flexibly to ensure continued service provision and to support the in‑house team of clinical physiologists in IOM.
Whilst this is classed as a consultant post in Clinical Neurophysiology, the nature of the post dictates close working with the Department of Neurosurgery, and it is anticipated that the postholder will be accommodated within Neurosurgery and will be line‑managed similarly. The post will be based at Denmark Hill and the proposed Job Plan is attached. There will be an average of nine programmed activities of direct clinical care, and one planned activity for supporting professional and/or other activities. All employees are expected to undertake work on any of the Trust's sites as required by the service.
As a senior employee of the Trust, you will work in close co‑operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. Integral to these responsibilities are the following:
