A leading NHS Trust in Watford is seeking a part-time Chronic Pain Consultant to join their dedicated team. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in pain clinics and theatres, participating in teaching and clinical governance activities. Candidates must hold an FRCS or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC. This opportunity also offers flexible working arrangements, emphasizing a good work-life balance. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chronic Pain team in a dedicated Chronic Pain post for a fixed term (3 months). The working conditions in this post are equitable to the current consultants.
We are looking for a new balanced pain consultant who will work as part of an MDT team and cover Pain clinics and theatres at our sites. They will also be expected to work flexibly and to be able to cover joint MDT clinics along with a psychologist as per service requirements. Candidates will be expected to support the delivery of a high‑quality Multidisciplinary Team pain service meeting local referral to treatment targets and waiting times and possess the ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
The candidate will be expected to participate in departmental and trust teaching and clinical governance and audit activities.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
The applicant should possess FRCS or equivalent qualification, be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register/obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
A part‑time appointment with 8 Programmed Activities (PA’s) is available. The Job Plan will be discussed and agreed on appointment and is subject to review.
