Overview

Construction Site Manager - HVDC Interconnector Project (Scotland)

Contract: 3 years | CIS / Day Rate

We are looking for an experienced Site Construction Manager to lead construction activities on a major HVDC Interconnector project in Scotland. This role covers civil, electrical, and mechanical works across converter stations, substations, and related infrastructure.

The Site Construction Manager will ensure delivery is safe, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards, working within a joint venture/consortium framework. The role involves close collaboration with National Grid and other stakeholders to meet statutory, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Manage site construction activities across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical works.
  • Drive compliance with CDM Regulations, HSE policies, and site safety plans.
  • Coordinate with design, engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Oversee subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and resources to meet milestones.
  • Report progress, risks, and issues to project leadership.
  • Build strong relationships across joint venture partners.
  • Support commissioning and handover phases.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven background as a Construction/Site Manager on large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of HVDC/AC substations, interconnectors, and converter stations.
  • National Grid project experience (preferred).
  • Track record managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of UK construction law, CDM Regulations, and HSE requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant engineering or construction qualification (degree or equivalent), with chartership desirable.
