Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Quality Engineer to support a major new build project at AWE Aldermaston. This is a full-time site-based role (no hybrid working), offering the opportunity to play a key part in one of the UK's most high-profile and secure infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality assurance oversight during the construction and commissioning phases.
  • Act as a Clerk of Works-style presence on site, ensuring that construction and installation activities meet required standards and specifications.
  • Support mechanical systems installation and commissioning, including documentation, verification, and sign-off.
  • Engage with project engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to drive quality compliance across all build activities.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining quality plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and associated documentation.
Qualifications
  • Background as a mechanical AP, commissioning engineer, or clerk of works with demonstrable quality assurance experience.
  • Strong construction/site experience (not just welding or fabrication inspection).
  • Proven ability to manage and enforce standards across contractors and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated industries is highly advantageous.
  • SC Clearance is ideal; candidates must be eligible to obtain it.
