Overview

John Coward Architects Ltd. have an opportunity for an experienced Conservation Architect or Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will manage and deliver multiple projects through all RIBA Stages. Good communication and a willingness to work collaboratively with clients, consultants and contractors are required.

At John Coward Architects you will work on a wide variety of projects throughout the North West and extensively within the Lake District National Park. We specialise in the conservation and adaptation of historic buildings, both ecclesiastical and secular. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on nationally significant buildings and sites. We also work on a range of new build projects from one-off houses to commercial and mixed-use developments. The diversity and complexity of projects provides an inspiring working environment. Our office is in the village of Cartmel near the southern end of the Lake District, offering access to the stunning Lake District landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects through all RIBA Stages of work.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants and contractors and maintain effective communication.
Qualifications
  • ARB Registration
  • In-depth knowledge of traditional building construction methods
  • Demonstrable experience of working with heritage buildings and the historic environment
  • Excellent technical and detailing skills, and knowledge of UK building regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient in AutoCad and NBS Building
Desirable skills
  • A minimum of five years’ experience
  • AABC and/or RIBA CA / SCA accreditation
  • REVIT experience
  • Due to the wide geographical spread of our work, you must be able to drive and have use of a vehicle for work purposes
