About The Role

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Role Overview

The Housing Compliance & Enforcement Team is based at Hammerstone Road in Gorton. The team manages housing disrepair in the private rented sector and licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and discretionary licensing schemes such as Selective Licensing. Responsibilities include responding to service requests from tenants, conducting compliance inspections, and supporting proactive projects to tackle rogue landlords.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process licensing applications for HMO and Selective Licensing schemes.
  • Provide direct support to Housing Compliance Officers in responding to service requests.
  • Conduct programmed compliance inspections as part of the council’s private rented sector licensing schemes.
  • Deliver accurate, technical advice and guidance to landlords and agents on compliance with private rented property licensing schemes and statutory obligations.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, best practice and policies.
Candidate Profile

We are seeking a Compliance Support Officer with strong ICT and communication skills. The successful candidate will use a number of systems and will need to communicate effectively to a range of audiences including managers, businesses, solicitors and partners.

Desirable experience with the following systems: SAP, Academy, REASON, Experian, and Flare.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant experience in housing compliance, licensing or a related field.
  • Good ICT proficiency and the ability to use multiple systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
