A community health organization is seeking volunteers to join their team as Community First Responders across the West Midlands. Applicants will need to provide first aid during emergency calls while being committed to at least 4 hours of service each week. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, basic IT knowledge, and a good level of physical fitness. Volunteers will support local initiatives like CPR awareness and fundraising while representing a trusted health service.
Exciting volunteering opportunities have arisen within West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust (WMAS) for individuals wishing to join our growing team of Community First Responders (CFRs).
We welcome applicants from throughout the West Midlands however, we are particularly interested in people from the following areas:
As a Volunteer Community First Responder (CFR), you will be expected to complete a minimum of 4 hours per week (208 hours per year). You will respond to 999 emergency calls in a CFR scheme vehicle on behalf of the Trust, providing first aid until the arrival of a paramedic or ambulance crew. Applicants should have a good all‑round standard of education, basic IT skills, strong communication skills, and a good level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role. You must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 1 year with no more than 6 penalty points. In addition to emergency response, CFRs support their local schemes through community engagement such as fundraising and promoting CPR and defibrillator awareness.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
