Deafblind Enablement (DBE) is an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with both sight and hearing loss. DBE helps them learn new skills, develop existing abilities, and gain access to their community and services with dignity, respect, control, and choice.

Role Description

This is a part-time, remote role as a Communicator-Guide at Deafblind Enablement. The Communicator-Guide will support individuals with both sight and hearing loss by assisting with communication, providing access to information, and facilitating their interaction within their community. Tasks include guiding individuals in various environments, helping them engage with services, and promoting their independence and well-being.

Qualifications
  • Experience in communication support, such as sign language or tactile communication
  • Skills in guiding and assisting individuals with mobility
  • Ability to promote independence and facilitate access to services
  • Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to various environments and tasks
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is beneficial
  • Basic knowledge of assistive technologies for sight and hearing loss is a plus
