Commissioning Officer

Location: Gloucester

Rate: £19.32 per hour

Contract: Long‑term temporary assignment

Hours: Full‑time

Security: Ideally hold a DBS or be willing to obtain one

We are recruiting a Commissioning Officer to support commissioning managers, lead commissioners and outcome managers in delivering effective, value‑for‑money services across council outcome areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support commissioning and procurement activities to meet customer and service needs
  • Assist with market research, analysis and evidence gathering to inform decisions
  • Support stakeholder and customer engagement activities
  • Undertake contract monitoring with providers
  • Draft specifications in line with commissioning and procurement guidance
  • Contribute to project work, reporting, risk assessment and performance monitoring
  • Lead lower‑risk commissioning exercises and support more complex or higher‑risk projects
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working in a commissioning environment (public sector preferred)
  • Experience supporting procurement, commissioning or contract management activity
  • Strong analytical, report‑writing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of public sector policy, legislation and partnership working
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
