Commercial Operations Manager

Belfast

Inclusion IQ is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Commercial & Retail Operations Manager to join our client, a leading retail company with stores across the UK & Ireland. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all commercial operations within the retail business, as well as influencing the efficiency and effectiveness of the warehouse and supply chain.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will drive business strategy and ensure the successful execution of commercial and operational initiatives. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring our stores are equipped with the right stock at the right time, that our warehouse operations are seamless, safe, and productive, and that our retail sales strategies are effectively implemented across the UK and Ireland.

The Role

Strategic Leadership & Commercial Acumen
  • Serve as the key figure representing commercial and sales operations at senior leadership meetings, shaping strategic direction and driving business success.

  • Design and implement scalable support strategies that align with the retail growth agenda and business priorities.

  • Drive change initiatives to improve service delivery, customer experience, and commercial outcomes.

  • Support wider organisational goals through effective cross-functional collaboration and leadership.

  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Retail Operations & Development
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Area Managers, to develop and execute effective retail strategies across the UK and Ireland.

  • Assist with new store openings, including logistical support and lease agreement coordination.

  • Support Area Managers with sales strategies and hiring needs to ensure business growth.

  • Continuously review processes, tools, and ways of working to drive efficiencies and effectiveness.

Warehouse & Supply Chain Management
  • Oversee all warehouse operations, ensuring daily team briefings are conducted and all operational and health & safety processes are followed in line with company standards.

  • Lead and inspire the warehouse team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring KPIs are consistently met.

  • Manage inventory effectively, ensuring accurate stock levels and smooth logistics for all stores.

People & Team Development
  • Implement comprehensive training and development (L&D) programs for all warehouse staff to enhance skills and career growth.

  • Manage team performance through regular feedback, development plans, and effective communication.

The Person

  • A minimum of 5 years in a senior operational or commercial leadership role in a fast-paced environment such as retail, FMCG, or similar.

  • Demonstrable experience in leading and developing multifunctional teams and successfully driving business performance.

  • A strong understanding of retail operations, customer service, and commercial processes.

  • The ability to balance strategic, big-picture thinking with a hands-on, practical approach to delivery. You must be commercially astute, possess strong analytical skills, and be relentlessly focused on achieving results.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
