To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Construction Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial management of key projects and support with tendering for new opportunities.

Role Overview

As a Construction Commercial Manager at Infocus, you will be responsible for managing project finances, negotiating contracts, overseeing procurement, and mitigating commercial risks. You will lead and mentor project teams, including quantity surveyor and planners, while ensuring projects are delivered profitably, on time, and in line with contractual obligations. This is a senior role requiring strong commercial acumen, sector knowledge, and proven experience in managing high-value construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Control project budgets, monitor costs against forecasts, and ensure financial performance aligns with targets.
  • Contracts: Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance and favourable terms.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial, financial, and contractual risks across projects.
  • Procurement: Lead procurement strategies to secure cost-effective labour, materials, and services, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Business Development: Support tendering, prepare bids, and identify opportunities to grow Infocus' project portfolio.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop commercial staff, including surveyors, estimators, and planners, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Reporting: Provide regular, accurate commercial reporting, including forecasts, cash flow, KPIs, and risk assessments, to senior management.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Professional Membership (desirable): MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 10-15 years' experience in commercial management within the construction or Infrastructure sector.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects (£5m+), ideally across multiple sectors such as rail, infrastructure, nuclear, or major civils.
  • Strong background in contract law, procurement, and supply chain management.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing ability.
  • Advanced financial and cost-control skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Clear communication and reporting skills to engage clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
