Combining decades of heritage with a commitment to innovation and major investment in automation and production, McColgan’s has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner to both the retail sector and the wider catering and hospitality industry.

The business is now seeking a Commercial Director to lead their sales, marketing, and business development functions. This is a senior leadership role with significant influence across the business, shaping its commercial direction and driving ambitious growth.

The Role

As Commercial Director, you will take full ownership of the company’s commercial strategy, working closely with the Board and reporting directly to the Managing Director to deliver sustainable revenue growth and market expansion.

You will be at the forefront of customer engagement, developing strong partnerships with major retailers and foodservice operators, while identifying new routes to market and opportunities for expansion. You will lead and inspire a talented sales and marketing team, setting ambitious but achievable targets, and ensuring that performance is aligned with wider business objectives. Hands-on in key negotiations, you will build commercial relationships that deliver long-term value. You will also play an instrumental role in shaping pricing, promotional activity, and brand positioning, using data, customer insights, and market intelligence to guide decision-making.

Working cross-functionally, you will be a key partner to operations and supply chain, ensuring that customer commitments are met efficiently and profitably. Above all, you will be a visible and influential leader, combining strategic thinking with the drive to deliver results.

The Person

You have a proven track record in food manufacturing, with experience managing major retailer and foodservice accounts. You have the confidence and credibility to engage at a senior level, backed by strong negotiation and relationship-building skills. Entrepreneurial and commercially astute, you can identify and capitalise on opportunities for growth.

You can inspire and lead teams, ensuring high performance and alignment with business goals. Comfortable working in complex stakeholder environments, you bring resilience, excellent communication skills, and a results-driven approach.

The Opportunity

This is a key leadership appointment within an ambitious business. As Commercial Director, you will sit on the senior leadership team, guiding the company’s commercial agenda and making a meaningful impact on its future success.
