A local mental health service in Plymouth seeks a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to provide specialized assessments and treatments for individuals experiencing psychosis. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical leadership, and maintaining high professional standards. Candidates should hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and have BABCP accreditation.
The post holder will deliver high qualitycomprehensive mental health service within the Early intervention for Psychosis team. Insight is a team that have been undergoing a lot of development and an exciting opportunity to be part of this growth has come up.
Insight provides well rounded care following the Early intervention for Psychosis standards. We offer those experiencing first episode psychosis a three year service and within that 3 years we aspire to offer a well rounded goals based care approach with the involvement of our clients throughout the journey.

Insight is a multi disciplinary team that welcomes passionate individuals who are recovery focused and are willing to work in a trauma informed approach to those experiencing first episode Psychosis.
The role involves delivering CBT to individuals experiencing first episode psychosis within the community setting.
You will contribute to the clinical leadership of the team, providing supervision for other members & participating in team/service development & evaluation.
Communication is key & working relationships, being open to feedback & giving feedback in a productive & with an open minded approach.

You will need to travel to engage with people in their own residence or hospital settings whilst planning discharge. They may need to sit for prolonged periods to compile complex reports.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1Providea specialist CBT assessment and treatment service for individuals, couples,families, carers and groups, city wide.
5.2 To provide services, advice and supportto other areas of Livewell Southwest as required.
5.3 To contribute to the delivery and thedevelopment of clinical services through collaboration with professional staffand other disciplines.
5.4 Maintain appropriate clinical records inline with Livewell Southwest policy.
5.5 To encourage consultation by users, LSWstaff, GP, Social Services, the Inpatient Units and others working within localservices.
5.6 To contribute to a programme of continualprofessional development for Insight and CBT providers across LivewellSouthwest.
5.7 To teach, as required, on professionalcourses within the Mental Health Service and at the University of Plymouth.
5.8 To prepare and deliver CBT trainingacross the SW Peninsula in partnership with Plymouth University.
5.9 To supervise trainees on placement asappropriate.
5.10 To contribute to a programme of continuingprofessional development for CBT provision across the organisation.
5.11 To keep up to date with current evidencedbased treatments and be involved in research as agreed with your line manager.
5.12 To conduct research and evaluation relevantto the provision of CBT services and more widely as required.
5.13 To participate in the regular use of outcomemeasure most suited to patients experiencing Psychosis.
5.14 To keep up to date with relevant researchliterature on evidence based practice.
5.15 To liaise and work in partnership withother mental health providers and with relevant and statutory agencies in thecommunity.
5.16 To liaise with other specialists bothregionally and nationally as appropriate.
5.17 To encourage consultation by users, LSWstaff, GPs Social Services, Inpatient units and others working within localservices.
5.18 Contribute to delivery and development ofclinical services through collaboration with professional staff and otherdisciplines.
5.19 To contribute to the maintenance anddevelopment of office system and procedures within the service.
5.20 To maintain appropriate service statisticsand electronic records of work within the requirement of polices covering CareManagement and Care Programme Approach.
5.21 To provide regular information on services.
5.22 To attend Insight service meetings, andother meetings relevant to the post holder.
5.23 To participate in annual appraisal with theService Manager.
5.24 Whilst maintaining clinical autonomy, toreceive regular clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified andexperienced supervisor and maintain the highest professional standards.
5.25 To be aware of current developments withinthe profession and to continue to maintain and further develop professionalknowledge and skills.
5.26 To work with appropriate professionalagencies.
5.27 Keep abreast, through study and attendanceat National and Local conferences, of developments in CBT and pursue CPD asadvised.
5.28 To adhere to LSW Policies and Procedures.
5.29 To maintain own professional registrationto governing bodies as appropriate.
5.30 To carry out such other clinical andadministrative duties. .
5.31 To act as a clinical expert in the field ofCBT providing consultation and education to the staff within LSW and Insight asrequired.
5.32 To work as an autonomous clinicianproviding specialist CBT assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation anddevelopment of CBT treatment to adults with Psychosis presentation.
5.33 Monitors and ensures maintenance ofstandards of treatment/care/confidentiality as set down by policies,procedures, and legislation & professional bodies (HCPC/NMC and BABCP).
5.34 Provide clinical information throughwritten and electronic assessment, progress, discharge and follow up reportsand letters to referrers.
5.35 To provide specialist CBT supervision forthe staff within LSW as required.
5.36 Administer clinical measures to reviewefficacy/efficiency of treatment.
5.37 To use research to develop and improveoutcomes.
5.38 Contribute to the development of policieswhich relate to the delivery of CBT.
5.39 Adhere to HCPC/NMC and BABCP professionalcodes of conduct.
COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS
6.1 To demonstrateexcellent communication skills with clients, staff, family members/carers
and wider health network.
6.2 To ensureinformation about clients assessment/treatment is accurately recorded using
the clinical record system.
6.3 Is able to impartcomplex and sensitive information to patients and families/carers and
related health care professionals.
6.4 To ensure goodworking relationships with all other health professionals across the health
network.
7. PHYSICAL DEMANDSOF THE JOB
The role will involve a lot of sitting with clients in therapyrooms. It may require some standing for2 hours at a time whilst delivering groups.There will also be frequent use of computer.
8. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ALLPOSTS
The post holder is required to comply with allrelevant policies and procedures pertinent to their post. Current versions canbe found on the intranet or via your manager. In accordance with the RiskManagement Strategy, employees will participate, whenever required, with therisk management process. They will support line managers by attending mandatoryand statutory training, completing incident/accident forms for every adverseevent or near miss that occurs, report all defects and complaints, andcommunicate any dangerous situation to individuals potentially at risk.

You will be notified whereyour post carries a requirement for immunisation.
You may be required to be able to undertake physicalintervention training and participate in physical intervention as part of aphysical intervention team and Basic Life Support (BLS).
8.3 Infection Control
Livewell Southwest is determined to eradicatehealthcare-acquired infection and puts a great deal of emphasis on theresponsibility of all staff to ensure their own personal and others compliancewith Infection Control (including Hand Washing) Policies. All staff must comply with infection control policiesand guidance, attend relevant updates and report issues of concern to theirimmediate line manager (if no action or explanation received, then it is theindividuals responsibility to escalate their concerns to the Director ofOperations or Chief Executives Office).
8.4 Safeguarding Children and Adults
All employees have a dutyto safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults and are required toact in such a way that at all times safeguards their health andwellbeing. Familiarisation with and adherence to national and localsafeguarding adults and children policies is an essential requirement upon allemployees. Livewell Southwest has specific safeguarding policies and inaddition, employees also have a responsibility to practice and work within themulti-agency policy developed by the Safeguarding Adults Board and theSafeguarding Children Board. Staff are also required to participate in relatedmandatory/statutory training.
8.5 Research
For clinical posts at bands 5 and 6, there is anexpectation that engagement in research will be part of this role. Therefore,an awareness of the value and relevance of research is expected and the postholder should either support existing research within their specialty area asappropriate or identify opportunities to raise awareness of researchpossibilities. For clinical posts atband 7 and above, the post holder will be required to actively participate incomplex audits using research methodology, or participate as required inclinical trials or equipment testing, and will demonstrate high levelinvolvement in local ongoing research projects.
8.6 Sustainabilityand climate change
All staff are expected to take responsibility for thereduction of carbon emissions within their area of the organisation. Inparticular this may relate to reducing energy consumption, making low carbontravel choices, consideration of goods and services being purchased, and wastereduction.

The Working TimeRegulations apply to all employees of Livewell Southwest. In particular,Livewell Southwest will not permit staff in all employments to work in excessof 48 hours in any one week except where there are exceptional service needswhere an absolute limit of averaging over a reference period of 17 weeks wouldapply.
