Job description

Overview

You will participate in the nuclear medicine physics service which is part of a multi disciplinary team (including both Oncology and Radiology). The physics service provides support to the Trust's gamma camera which is operated by staff in the Radiology department. The service also provides support to the nuclear imaging department at Walsall Manor Hospital which has one gamma camera. Scientific support for the sentinel lymph node service is provided for both organisations. The nuclear medicine section in medical physics directly manages the molecular radiotherapy services (including I-131 and Ra-223), a number of non-imaging diagnostic services and radiopharmacy services. The post will be responsible to the Head of Radiation Safety Services.

Are you an MPE in nuclear medicine physics? We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical scientist to join our Nuclear Medicine Physics team. There are approximately 10 clinical scientists, technologists and radiopharmacy technicians in the team who are committed to prioritising patient care. In this role you will be supported by senior management.

Responsibilities

• Provide physics support to one on-site gamma camera as well as one other site, handling a range of imaging procedures.
• Directly manage the non-imaging diagnostic and MRT service and contribute to commissioning a brand new state of the art radiopharmacy.
• Support the day to day provision of nuclear medicine physics services as part of the team.
• Work under the supervision of the Head of Radiation Safety Services.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum requirement is to be an MPE in nuclear medicine physics.
• Strong scientific skills are vital to ensure the safe delivery of nuclear medicine procedures.
• We support leadership training and will aid the successful candidate to achieve RWA or RPA certification.
