Job summary

Job description
Job Overview

East Kent Hospitals requires a Principal Clinical Scientist in Haemostasis and Thrombosis to join our dynamic team of experienced biomedical scientists and clinicians, supporting operational delivery, staff training, method development, and review of clinical guidelines at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of complex specialist scientific work, demanding skilled performance with or without scientific and/or technical support.
  • Contribute to quality management and the training of both clinical scientists and biomedical scientists.
  • Attend regular Kent and Medway journal club and clinical meetings and support the National Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre laboratory, which processed over 30,000 samples last year.
Qualifications
  • Ideally possess Part 1 FRCPath, an MSc and/or PhD in Clinical Haematology/Haemostasis, and registration as a clinical scientist with the HCPC.
  • Full‑time position with excellent training opportunities and support in preparing for Part 2 FRCPath.
Required Skills & Checks
  • Ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
  • Most positions require a Disclosure and Barring checks and will be exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
  • Posts working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced check.
  • Applicants for roles requiring Tier 2 sponsorship must meet UK Visas and Immigration eligibility criteria.

Additional Information

We operate a no‑smoking policy on all our sites and grounds. This full‑time role is based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital; working at sites outside of EKHUFT is not expected, although collaborative working within the network may occur.
