Job description
Clinical RIS PACS Manager

The closing date is 04 January 2026.

The post holder will work as a member of the Imaging Leadership Team and collaborate closely with the Trust's IM&T team and other stakeholders.

The role involves taking clinical lead responsibility for the provision of PACS across the Trust, ensuring clinical images are available when and where required for patient management, and liaising closely with clinical teams. The manager will oversee day‑to‑day operational activity and lead the strategic development of the PACS service for the Royal Hospital.

  • Ensuring the PACS and RIS operate efficiently and effectively, both clinically and financially.
  • Continuously striving for improved performance and leading practice.
  • Leading the service by developing people and systems to support the Trust vision and objectives.
  • Supporting the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
  • Provide strong visible leadership and act as a role model.
  • Clinical lead responsibility for RIS and PACS.
  • Leadership of a small team within the Imaging Care Unit.
  • Close collaboration with the IM&T Team.
  • Oversee data quality issues, information governance and data security within the RIS/PACS system in conjunction with relevant Trust departments and other PACS users.
  • Represent Imaging at local and regional meetings in matters relating to PACS and RIS and provide advice and support on PACS and RIS at Division and Trust level.
  • Communicate complex technical information throughout the Imaging Care Unit and liaise with all members of the multi‑disciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care when RIS/PACS is used.
  • Work flexibly with occasional out‑of‑hours work.
  • Lead Trust‑wide initiatives and projects as required.
  • Deputise for the Head of Imaging when appropriate and required.

  • First degree or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of other specialist management training to diploma level.
Experience
  • Experience within the Healthcare sector at a management level, including project management, business planning, change management, multidisciplinary working, financial management, human resource management, and performance management.
  • Evidence of having achieved challenging healthcare/business targets.
  • Significant experience of RIS and PACS administration.
  • Experience of supporting programmes of change in a complex organisation.
  • Experience of working in a teaching hospital or other busy environment.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment.
