Overview

Exciting Opportunity in Clinical Research at ESNEFT! We are seeking a compassionate Midwife with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and an interest in maternity research to join the Generic Research Team at Ipswich Hospital. The role supports the Generation Study – a landmark national programme exploring maternal and reproductive health and offering whole genome sequencing for newborn babies.

You will support participants throughout the study pathway, coordinating care, leading recruitment, and ensuring all activities comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Trust research governance standards. This is a fixed term/secondment position until 31 December 2026, 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support recruitment into the Generation Study.
  • Co-ordinate your own caseload of clinical research participants; act as a primary contact point for clinical trial and research participants in collaboration with the relevant clinical specialists. Refer to other specialist areas as required for optimal patient care.
  • Provide ongoing information, education, and support to participants (and their significant others) regarding clinical trials and research.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and appropriate clinics to screen and recruit new participants.
  • Ensure trial-specific investigations are undertaken as required by the trial protocol; establish eligibility and safety to enter the trial and meet protocol requirements during the follow-up phase.
  • Assist with, and when appropriate be responsible for, consent and randomisation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient events in nursing/medical notes and accurately document data collected into the case report forms (CRF) in paper and electronic format.
  • Record and report adverse events that occur whilst participants are in a clinical trial to the relevant personnel and act as required.
  • Record and report serious adverse events to the trial co-ordinator/Chief Investigator and local Principal Investigator/regulatory authorities.
