Clinical Nurse Specialist - Macmillan Lead Lung Cancer

An exciting opportunity has a risen to work as a Macmillan Lead Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will lead a team of clinical nurse specialist (CNS) as well as a band 4 cancer support worker (CSW) within the team. You will work closely with a dedicated lung cancer MD.

We are looking for a kind, dedicated team player with excellent communication skills and experienced in lung cancer to join our warm and highly skilled lung cancer CNS team. You will be expected to lead change and service development projects. You will also have managerial responsibilities.

The Lung cancer CNS Team cover a broad lung cancer pathway providing advice, social and emotional support and information to patients and their loved ones throughout their pathway. We have a dedicated pre-diagnostic team however your team will support patients from diagnosis, treatment options and living with and beyond cancer diagnosis.

Main duties of the job
  • The Lead/Team Lead CNS will provide clinical leadership, service management and line management to the CNS team/ service.
  • The Lead/ Team Lead CNS will deliver expert clinical care at an enhanced level and use their experience to support the band 6 and 7 CNSs within their practice and role.
  • A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at an enhanced level within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advise on, and support patients.
  • Specialist role to be performed and area of practice as in Lead Lung cancer Clinical Nurse specialist
  • The Lead Lung clinical nurse specialist will provide expert clinical supervision and leadership to the CNS team.
  • They will operationally manage the service and staff, as well as being instrumental in the pathway management of Lung cancer patients at Imperial.
  • The Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supports patients diagnosed or treated with Lung Cancer within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. They work as a team of 6 nurses and 1 x band 4 cancer support worker under the professional oversight of a Lead Lung Cancer CNS. They are a valued member of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary team and advocate for patients being treated within this pathway.
